Use of parallel texts in Cognitive Linguistics research:
The case of deictic verbs
In this talk, I will introduce the usefulness of parallel texts in Cognitive Linguistics research. Although translated texts has been introduced into Cognitive Linguistics, I believe the field has not taken full advantage of its research potential. I will discuss how the methodology can reveal the usage of deictic verbs as viewpoint operators that other methods cannot as a case in point. I expect the talk to be interesting to scholars in linguistics, stylistics, and translation (of literature).
