On 25 April 2012 an open lecture by Prof. dr hab. Elżbieta Tabakowska: "Translation: grammar and culture" was delivered in the JU Auditoriium Maximum.

It was a part of a series of open lectures on the theory and practice of translation held by the UNESCO Chair in Translation Studies and Intercultural Communication in the academic year 2011/2012.

Elżbieta Tabakowska is the Head of the UNESCO Chair, a Professor of English Studies specializing in cognitive linguistics and translation theory. She has translated many books by Norman Davis into Polish and is an author of two books on translation.
