Circles – Spirals - Returns: Doctoral Student Literary Studies Conference
Doctoral Student Literary Studies Conference
Circles – Spirals - Returns
Doctoral Student Literary Studies Conference
Krakow, May 25-26, 2012
An all-Polish doctoral student literary studies conference "Circles-Spirals-Returns" organized by the JU Doctoral Student Society of Literary Studies will be held on May 25 and 26 in the JU Collegium Maius.
The Conference aims to investigate the role of return in literature. The term is understood as broadly as possible, including the return to places, return in time, recalls and adaptations of myths and literary topoi as well as return in terms of style and literary convention. As the title suggests, the conference is based on the assumption that return doesn't necessarily mean a close cycle in the text, but it can have a dynamic character, like a spiral.
Each return is related to some sort of journey. The conference is aimed at tracing this journey. The sessions will take a form of moderated panel discussions. Doctoral students from all over Poland are welcome to submit their papers and participate.
